TikTok completion rate and average watch time are the strongest content-quality signals

TikTok's Content analytics tab highlights average watch time and 'watched full video' percentage as the clearest indicators of whether a video is actually engaging, as opposed to simply being shown. A low average watch time points directly to a weak hook or slow intro, since that is where viewers drop off first.

Worth covering:

  • Check average watch time and full-video completion rate for each post weekly, not just views or likes
  • If completion rate is low, rework the first 2-3 seconds of your next video before changing anything else
  • Check 'video views by source' to see whether growth is coming from the For You page or just existing followers viewing your profile
